June 21, 2026·Sawyer·IQ Market Memo·Issue 03Operator
Nobody's watching crypto. The Fed just turned hawkish anyway.
We've spent most of 2026 leaning bearish on this market, and June gave us little reason to change. The Fed held rates, then tilted its dot plot toward a hike, and the dollar broke higher. Crypto had already paid for it in early June, with record ETF outflows, a washed-out futures book, and Extreme Fear. What stands out now is how empty the room is: Attention IQ fell to its lowest since the June 2022 Terra/3AC capitulation, when the index set its all-time floor. A hawkish macro, and almost no one left watching.
The Read
- Cycle IQ 54.8 (Neutral) as of Jun 21, up 0.2 on the week. Flat, mid-cycle.
- Altcoin IQ 44.8 (Neutral, +3.5), firmed about seven points off its Jun 13 low. ETH did the lifting.
- Attention IQ ~16.3 (Compressed, −2.0 on the week) as of Jun 21, its lowest reading since the June 2022 Terra/3AC capitulation and one of the two lowest in the index's roughly eleven-year history.
- Verdict: a washed-out, deleveraged, low-attention grind on compressed valuations that reads late-drawdown. Not a bottom call.
Macro got worse, and it turned on energy
